The Basque Region is most known for its language. both were had for much of their history relative autonomy with their own government and laws, and both were oppressed by Spain and have struggled to maintain their identities ever since. Both share a common history as regions defined in part by with their own distinct language and cultures. The Basque Country, a region linking both Spain and France, shares many similarities with that of the Catalonia’s. As we dive into Catalonia’s history and modern day issues there is much that can be gleaned from their neighbors the Basques. He will be remembered for his love of fishing, socializing with his family and friends, cooking and tinkering on cars and motorcycles Pete passed away at 1:30 a.m., Saturday, December 15, 2018, at his daughters residence in Indianapolis, Indiana. Pete was a member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396. He also farmed on the family farm for several years in Switzerland County, Indiana. Pete was employed as a truck driver for various companies for several years. Pete was inducted into the United States Army on Octoat Fort Knox, Kentucky and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant on Jat Fort Benjamin in Harrison, Indiana. Pete was inducted into the United States Army National Guard on and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant on May 15, 1987. He was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana where he was a 1970 graduate of the Switzerland County High School. David Eugene "Pete" Purnell, age 66, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on February 19, 1952, in Switzerland County, Indiana, the son of the late, Eddie B.
